Creating Space in Every Place This year you've probably taken note of what's working and what's not in your home. Life can be messy and hectic and having an unorganized, crowded home can add on to the many other stressors in life. Having a place for everything can reduce the clutter in your home. Here are some ideas to create space in every place! Kitchen • Wire racks in cabinets can hold cutting boards, pot and pan lids, or even thin pans. • Baskets can organize your travel mugs and water bottles. These can be placed in your cabinets or on the counter for easy access. • Hang things. An optimal way to free up kitchen space is to hang utensils, pots, pans, etc. • Keep old boxes and reuse them to make DIY bins for your freezer to organize and store food. This allows you to pull it out and easily see what you have. • Magazine holders can be placed in cabinets and can hold various items such as cutting boards, plastic bags, aluminum foil, and more. • A Lazy Susan in your spice cabinet or a storage rack on the inside of your cabinet allows you to find your spices easily. • Island? You may not have space for a large island but many smaller options (some portable) exist that may work for your room and offer extra storage. Bedrooms • Over the door shoe racks can easily store stuffed animals, toys, belts, electronic accessories and more. • Putting rolling bins under your bed allows you to store bedding, clothing, etc. and easily access it. • A storage chest can be decorative, offer a seat and conceal items you don't need on a regular basis. Bathroom • A tension rod under the bathroom cabinet can be used to hang spray cleaners. • Over the toilet is a great spot for a storage cabinet or shelving to store toiletries, towels and more. • Magazine holders under your bathroom cabinets can store a variety of items such as hair tools. • Have kids? Buy a kid stool that can store bath toys too. • A wine rack can be used as a decorative wall piece to roll and store towels Garage • Hang a bucket on your wall and have all of your car washing necessities in it. • Old golf bags can store garden tools and make gardening a little easier. • Use an old toy bin or a filing cabinet to store items needed for DIY projects. • Look into over the car storage, shelving and cabinets to see what works for your space and budget. In all areas, look up and look down. Is there room for shelving near the ceiling for items that you don't use often? Is there space for shelving under the stairs? Are corners storage options? Enter each room and look for unused space to see what you can find! |
